GCI Virtual Summit Thought Leader – Khalid Tinasti, Global Commission on Drug Policy
Khalid Tinasti participated as a thought leader at the GCI Virtual Summit 2020, joining 1000+ registered global leaders in both cannabis and psychedelics.

Khalid Tinasti is the Director of the Global Commission on Drug Policy. He also serves as a Visiting Fellow at the Global Studies Institute at the University of Geneva (since 2018) and at the David F. Musto Center on Drug Policy Studies at the University of Shanghai (2020-21).
Before joining the Global Commission’s Secretariat in 2013 as a Policy Analyst, then as its Executive Secretary, he worked as an independent consultant for UNAIDS, WHO, the Graduate Institute and others. Prior to that, Khalid worked as a Press and Communications Officer in the office of the Minister of Urban Cohesion in France, and as an Administrative Officer in Gabon. Khalid holds a PhD in political science from the Institut Catholique de Paris, and held research fellowships at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (2015-16, Switzerland) and Swansea University (2016-20, UK).
Khalid Tinasti is currently the Chair of the Program Advisory Panel of the Robert Carr Fund, an Expert in the Network of the Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime, and pledged to be an International Gender Champion to support gender equality in drug policy. He is the author of scientific papers and policy research reports with a focus on public policies, democracy and the role of elections, and international drug control mechanisms.
