GCI Virtual Summit Thought Leader – Luana Mifsud Buhagiar, Malta Medicines Authority

Luana Mifsud Buhagiar studied Pharmacy at the University of Malta where she graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy and a postgraduate Master of Pharmacy degree, followed by a PhD with research on analytical, clinical and regulatory implications of pharmacogenetics.
Her disseminated research work focuses on pain relief, pharmaceutical sciences and precision medicine. Luana developed the Research, Scientific Affairs and Innovation Unit at the Malta Medicines Authority and currently holds the position of Director, Advanced Scientific Initiatives with responsibilities including the regulation of medicinal cannabis.
Luana Mifsud Buhagiar represents Malta in a number of international forums and is active within the European medicines regulatory network in the areas of innovation and training.
